What Happens in a Drama Queens Club?
Every school is unique and our syllabus is tailored to fit the individual needs of each venue. Below is a general outline of our classes.
The first term of each academic year focuses on using Drama to build social skills and team building. Classes are a fun mixture of drama games, song, dance, acting and improvisation.
In the Spring Term we build on this to work towards a performance - learning songs, poems and dialogue improves students’ literacy skills and builds academic confidence.
In the Summer Term our pupils follow the LAMDA performance poetry syllabus, and have the option to enter an external examination. Our brilliant results speak for themselves, last year over 40% distinctions and 60% merits. With learning poems at the heart of the new curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2 this can be a fun way of getting children excited by language (and can improve your School’s OFSTED!)
As well as our After-School Clubs we offer a wide range of Drama based workshops which can bring fun and creativity to all areas of the curriculum.
How It Works:
Hosting a Drama Queens After School Club:
Drama Queens Managed means we take care of all the publicity, admin and bookings, provide the curriculum, lesson plans and teachers. The school provides the venue and supports our presence, and parents pay us directly.
School Managed means the school publicises and manages the bookings for the club and provides the venue. Drama Queens provides the curriculum, lesson plans and teachers. This allows parents to pay a lower cost per term.
School and Parent Funded means the school pays the cost for the term and may charge the parents a weekly or termly contribution, at the school’s discretion.
We understand that each school has its own individual circumstances and Drama Queens, as a small concern, can respond to those needs as and when required.
